Perhaps it’s because I love musicals, but as I was watching this scene from “Rent“, I was thinking to myself, how I would love to see two courtesans with musical theater backgrounds (or who at least have great voices since this is a pretty difficult song to sing) perform this duet in that room where there’s a piano:

I kind of think of it as a “two girl musical theater party”.

I know Akira is a singer/musician from her profile. Anyone else?

In Lilly Hawke’s profile, she describes herself as a jazz vocalist. You might contact her.

Hi, @bunnyalamode… I’d love to see either you, Lily Lovecraft, Lilly Hawke or Akira do this song (perhaps each of you could take turns playing Maureen/Joanne 😉 ).

*** By the way (and I only mention this because both Lily Lovecraft and Akira have opera backgrounds), but I was told by someone a while back that when opera singers sing songs of other genre (such as pop), it usually sounds “different”. Not different as in bad, but it just sounds different.

Again, that’s what someone told me. I don’t know how true that is.

Too bad my voice is not that great despite the fact I used to study musical theater (and a major reason why I dropped out to go into something completely different 😉 ).

Otherwise, I wouldn’t mind doing this scene with any one of the courtesans who love to sing/has a singing background:

Here is (what I believe) to be a better version of this song:

I know this scene is dark and creepy and not everyone will probably be up to it, but in a way(at least to me) it is kind of seductive and erotic in a dark way.

    Hmmm…

Perhaps we could have TWO courtesans sing this and one of them could play Mr. (or should I say, MS.) Hyde 😉 😉 ! I could kinda see Lily and Akira in this scene.

    The secret garden
Some holiday Christmas thing I dont remember the name of.
A musical vertion of a mid summers nights dream.

    My favorite musicals are
    Refer madness
    Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
    Aida
    Jekyll and Hyde
    Anything goes

It would be cool to do music with the other girls.
Ive talked about starting an all hoe band with Jane and Bunnie!

Yes vocal technique verys from opera to jazz to pop. I was already a profetional vocalist by age 12 and have gone through years of training. Personally i just see most pop as sloppy or over prossesed since most people lack even a basic understanding of music and dont have someone yelling at them when their preformance isn’t flawless. Sometimes that can add character to the music. I love rock and punk so I do have appreciation for that raw sound. Some bands like system of a down are classically trained.

    I love “Jekyll and Hyde“!

When you mention starting an all hoe band with “Jane”, do you mean Jane Jupiter?

Also, I believe KT has a background in singing.
